Beta Testing Now Open! - samuelswauger - 09-07-2026 Hello all! New Earth map infrastructure is in an alpha-testing phase. This is a complicated server concept to tackle in vanilla, and I'd like you guys to help me stress-test it. I've implemented territorial claims and teleportation/warps between different countries. Like I said it's 100% vanilla and (hopefully) doesn't tank the server TPS.. Here's a brief look at what's been worked on so far: There's a new dashboard on the temp website (here: https://sams.tj/earth/index.html) You can click anywhere on the live satellite map to initiate a warp to that place. Your first drop is free, no vote point cost is incurred. However subsequent warps require a variable number of vote points based on your play time, server trust rating (via the !trust cmd), pvp history (killing people increases your cost by a lot), and the number of youve already warps used in a given week. You drop in at Y=300 with slow-falling so you don't die of suffocation or fall damage. Additionally, unwelcome guests/griefers can't just walk into your city and start breaking things. CommandsBot runs a defense grid protecting your territorial claims based on real-life geopolitical demarcations and borders! So intruders get forced into adventure mode unless they haven't specifically been granted access to your territory. During times of war (outlined later in this post) defenders get permanent resistance and regeneration effects on their home turf. This runs entirely outside the Minecraft tick loop so it doesn't cause server lag as far as i know but please help me stress-test like I said earlier! War can be declared between countries or cities by the owner of that locale. To bypass a city's defense grid and actually grief or invade, you have to formally declare war (via !war command). It costs 2,000 vote points to get immunity from the adventure mode protection mentioned above, and that lets you break blocks in enemy territory. Additionally I recognize how there may be some conflict over top-level territorial units and locales. You can claim a country, a city, or even just your street address IRL. However let's say you own Baltimore, and your friend Alex owns the United States. Another player, Steve, owns Maryland. Players incur a vote point cost to warp to different locales, so if someone warps to Baltimore you receive the chunk of that fee. A variable amount, however, depending on the player's reputation (determined by factors I noted above like player count, trust score, etc) goes to the locale above yours. A percentage of that fee goes to Steve and chunk of THAT goes to Alex! Leaders of government entities can appoint a "cabinet" of users to serve administrative functions over their territory. These surrogate users can approve or deny warps to their territory, add or remove citizens, and collect a share of the vote point fee from warps to your territory. But PLEASE NOTE!!! If you go inactive for over 1 week, your government collapses and you lose your territorial claims. Your land goes back up for grabs! Finally, a Litematica upload tool is being added to the earth.tj dashboard to help with large-scale city builds and monument recreations. You can submit .litematic or .schem files through the earth.tj store (not up and running yet, but soon to be at earth.tj/store), and CommandsBot will generate a "quote" for your materials if you buy them via the store. To incentivize building, the vote point cost will be discounted up to 50% based on your trust rating, playtime, and pvp history etc. Once purchased, the materials drop directly to you in-game just like all other materials from the store on my other servers. Sadly this isn't up and running yet, it's a lot of work and I'm getting to it when I can. I need to finalize how this quote cost is calculated so the economy remains balanced. There are two primary options up for debate. Let me know your thoughts on these features and any bugs or suggestions you've got on the Discord please, or reply directly to this thread. Thanks |
